General Conference this weekend... that's always fun. I heard it called "pajama church" last week, which I found at once amusing and tremendously sad. This is conference, this is a meeting of the church with God's mouthpiece, His prophet; this is what King Benjamin's people traveled days and set up tents to participate in - and we don't even bother getting dressed.
That being said, I did watch the first session on Sunday in my PJ's cuddled up with Crystal and enjoying the delightfully full feeling of just having downed five piping hot scones covered in powdered sugar and grape jelly. . . So nice. I was spiritually and temporally fed and cuddled up next to an amazing girl -- and I still felt the spirit and learned things - so I guess it's not that tremendously sad and I was just being a judgmental dork.
So scones are about the greatest thing I know how to cook (which isn't saying much because I only know how to make about 3 things, but still). My dad and I used to make scones for every session of conference, and when I left home I carried on the legacy both while on my mission and at school. Crystal helped me today which was kind of strange -- I'm used to being the helper, not instructing the helper, but it worked. She fits well into my family tradition. (yeah, tradition, singular, it's about the only one I can think of from my time growing up).
As for conference, I promised Crystal I'd get her in to at least one session (she'd never been before -- well, not live)... it got a little scary there for a while as I was totally unable to find tickets, but that's nothing a little sign and a really loud voice pleading for extra tickets can't fix. (We got in to both afternoon sessions).
The highlight for me was Elder Wirthlin's talk, or just the quote that he repeated, it really stuck with me, "come what may, and love it." What a great motto for life... whatever it hands you, you're stuck with- so find a way to smile and endure -- no, no, not endure... ENJOY it.

Game Night
So I've decided it's high time I started blogging.
Tonight was fun. I brought Crystal to a game night at my cousins'. Catch Phrase is pretty much the best game ever -- if you want to completely embarrass yourself with instant and painful bouts with "se me fue" syndrome.
Highlights from tonight include:
"A bird, with a big pouch..." - "Kangaroo!?!"
"Not a period but a ..." "comma?" "yes! . . . oh no, crap. It says COMA!"
"It's a James Bond Movie and the first word is a bird..." (the answer was Eagle Eye -- which Bond movie is that exactly, we're just not sure).
Anyhow, it was a thoroughly entertaining evening with my tremendously funny family... game nights should happen more often.
